Future Leader Emma

26 Jan 2017

Future Leader Emma has recently returned from Nicaragua after volunteering with ICS and Progressio.
"In September 2016, as part of a team of eight I went on a three month volunteer placement with ICS to La Grecia in Nicaragua in Central America. We were representing a charity called Progressio and it was our role to help them achieve their goals by working in tandem with the in-country partner organisation, ASOMUPRO.

Progressio is a UK based charity focused on international development in poor and marginalised communities around the globe. In order to fulfil Progressio’s goals we held talks on climate change and led gender equality events to which the whole community in La Grecia was invited.

I learnt so much from my placement; it really was an invaluable experience that has shaped and benefited me immensely. It was hard work but I will certainly miss the feeling of productivity and fulfilment I got to go to bed with at the end of each day".

Congratulations Emma. We are so very pleased that you had a fulfilling experience in Nicaragua!!
